This has shaped everything from the way we dress to the songs we listen to, the dances we practice, and the trends we obsess over. Millions of people credit the app, specifically videos with #TikTokMadeMeBuyIt, for convincing them to buy something they’ve never heard of but now can’t live without. It’s interesting to examine all of the ways that TikTok has influenced culture, because what we see on the app so frequently becomes reflected outside of the app through the audio we quote, the jokes we tell, or the knowledge we share. TikTok even inspires users to create real change outside of their own lives, in the arena of politics and social justice, crime, and education.
