About Me
Welcome to my blog! I’m Dana Galo. A little about me… I’m originally from the suburbs of Philadelphia, PA and I’m 22 years old. I’ve always been obsessed with pop culture and social media, probably like some of you are. I’m currently a student at Drexel University, majoring in Communications with a concentration in Public Relations. As part of my senior project at Drexel University, I’ve created this blog to examine, understand, and explain how TikTok changed the world. Since TikTok’s launch, I’ve been fascinated with the app and how it became the fastest growing social media platform in the world, especially during a global pandemic while many businesses and brands suffered.

Outside of school, I work with Young Hollywood, an entertainment outlet, as a social media manager, where I manage the official social media handles with content across Instagram, TikTok, and Youtube Shorts. I also design digital materials for use across the network, like edited videos and interviews, graphics, thumbnails, logos, and more. Another fun part of my role is that creatively, I’m able to develop fun segment ideas, show concepts, and interview questions for celebrity talent.

Through this blog, I will take readers on a journey of some of the ways that TikTok’s popularization has impacted different aspects and sectors of media, culture, and business, in addition to completely transforming the digital landscape since its launch. Each blog post aims to address an individual aspect that has been affected by the popularization of the app. Millennials and Gen-Z will be able recognize the power behind their favorite app and how it has created an entire cultural transformation, both online and in the outside world, as well as learn about how social media continues to affect society, and how the benefits and challenges of new social media platforms affect the greater social ecosystem in a variety of different aspects. Readers can also expect to understand the global phenomenon at a deeper level.
